BOURSIER-MOUGENOT, Celeste; from here to ear (v.13)
Born in Nice, Céleste Boursier-Mougenot lives and works in Sète, a town on the Mediterranean coast in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France. Prior to his career as a visual artist, he worked as a composer and, between 1985 and 1994, was the principal composer for Pascal Rambert’s Company, Side One Posthume Théâtre. He began producing sound works for a visual art context in the mid 1990s and exhibited predominantly in France until 1998 when he was awarded a studio residency at the PS1 Institute for Contemporary Art in New York. He subsequently began exhibiting with New York gallerist Paula Cooper. Boursier-Mougenot’s work is represented in prestigious collections internationally including the Centre Pompidou, Paris; Israel Museum, Jerusalem; Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego; Museum of Old and New Art, Hobart; and numerous collections in France.
