Peter Tully, Body ornament: Masai Moments III, 1980

Body ornament: Masai Moments III 1980 is a sculptural assemblage using found objects, plastic and human hair. Peter Tully's jewellery and costume designs were exhibited as craft and performed by the artist in Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, of which he was the artistic director for a number of years in the early 1980s. This work is from a series of costumes - described by Tully as ‘urban tribalwear’ – that specifically engage with cross-cultural fetishism.
